As an artist in Port Townsend, I am one among many. The Peninsula draws people interested in a locale both spiritual in nature and naturally beautiful. I was born in this place, have grown to appreciate the changes over time, and return to my home for inspiration and pleasure. Since early retirement in 2001, I have split my time between Central America and the northwest. Painting with mixed media and drawing with pen and ink are my primary tools, when traveling. Occasionally working with porcelain and mixed media sculpture, I am learning to simplify my art habits and family life after teaching for over 20 years.
My favored inspiration combines words or ideas with an image from life or nature. My preference for the abstract adds to a colorful viewpoint that combines life, nature and imagination. Magical realism is abstract, surreal and conceptual. I like working with philosophical viewpoints as well as symbols and clues from relationships. My heroes are musicians, spiritual rebels, thinkers and adventurers. The influence of paradox, abstraction and playfulness in art is paramount to me. I like to live at the edge of the land both north and south. I hope you will consider contacting me if you have an interest in my art.
